Careers

Build More Than Beautiful Spaces. Build A Career.

We’re building a team of professionals who take pride in craftsmanship, respect every client, and are committed to continuous improvement. Whether you’re beginning your career or bringing years of experience, we’d love to learn more about you.

Why Join Clark Painting

Great Craftsmanship Begins With Great People.

Clark Painting is committed to providing an environment where professionalism, respect, learning, and quality workmanship are valued every day.

We believe the best teams are built through mentorship, accountability, continuous learning, and pride in doing exceptional work. That means newer painters are paired with experienced ones on purpose, questions are welcomed rather than tolerated, and the standard is shown before it is expected.

This is a small crew, which is the point. Nobody here is a number on a schedule, the work you do is recognisable as yours, and the person who sets the standard is on site with you.

Our Culture

What We Value.

Eight things we hold each other to. None of them are unusual, and all of them are noticeable when they are missing.

  • Respect

We work in people’s homes and places of business. We knock, we introduce ourselves, we keep the music down, and we leave a room better than we found it — every day, not only on the first one.

  • Integrity

We quote what the work actually needs and we do what we quoted. When something is found behind a wall, it is raised the same day rather than discovered by the client at the end.

  • Preparation

The finish is decided before any paint is opened. Filling, sanding, priming, masking, and protecting are the work; the final coat is what everyone else sees.

  • Professionalism

Clean vehicles, tidy sites, appropriate language, and arriving when we said we would. A crew that looks after its own presentation is trusted with better work.

  • Communication

Clients are told what is happening today and what happens tomorrow. Within the crew, a question asked early is always cheaper than a repair made later.

  • Craftsmanship

A cut line either is straight or it is not. We would rather spend the extra hour than explain the result, and we expect to be held to that by each other.

  • Safety

Ladders set properly, respirators worn where they are needed, solvents handled correctly, and nobody encouraged to hurry through the part of the job that could injure them.

  • Continuous Improvement

Products change, substrates vary, and there is always a better way to approach something. We learn from each other deliberately, and nobody here is finished learning.

Career Opportunities

The Positions We Hire For.

Where a position is open, it says so. Where it is not, an application is still worth sending — a place on this crew is often filled by someone who applied before there was one.

Benefits & Professional Growth

What Clark Painting Offers.

What we offer the people who work here, described as how the company actually operates rather than as a list of perks.

A painter resting an arm on a well-used stepladder, a loaded roller in hand, the wall behind half covered.
Competitive Pay
Hourly pay set by experience, demonstrated skill, reliability, and the responsibility a position carries. We would rather discuss it directly with you than publish a number that fits nobody.
Quality Tools And Equipment
Sprayers, sanders, dust control, lighting, and access equipment appropriate to the work, kept in working order. Fighting failing equipment is a poor use of a skilled person’s day, and it shows in the finish.
A Small-Team Environment
A professional, respectful crew that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously. Nobody here is a number on a schedule, and the person who sets the standard is on site with you.
Varied, Interesting Work
Custom homes, detailed interiors, exteriors, drywall repair, cabinetry, and select commercial projects. The range is the reason this is a trade worth learning properly rather than a job worth having.
Practical Skill Development
Hands-on opportunities to strengthen painting, preparation, drywall, spray, leadership, and customer-service skills — learned here, on real work, alongside people who already do it well.
Clear Expectations
You will know what the standard is, how the day is sequenced, and what finished looks like. Direct communication in both directions, including when something needs to be said.
Room To Take On More
Opportunities for greater responsibility as skill and reliability are demonstrated. Crew leaders and supervisors come from inside the crew wherever we can manage it.
Honest Scheduling
Scheduling that reflects project needs, the season, the weather, and workload — described plainly rather than promised. Work may vary with project volume through the year, and we would rather you heard that from us first.
Safety-Focused Practice
Ladders and access set up correctly, respiratory protection where a product calls for it, proper job site protection, and no expectation that anyone hurries through the part of a job that could hurt them.
The Hiring Process

What To Expect.

Eight steps, in order, with no surprises in between. Selected applicants are usually contacted within several business days, although timing may vary with active project schedules.

  1. Application Received

Send the form at the bottom of this page, with a résumé if you have one to hand. It takes a few minutes, and a note about work you are proud of is worth more than a long list of employers.

  2. Initial Review

A person reads your application in full — not a filter. Initial review is generally within three to five business days, and we are looking for care, consistency, and a reason you want this trade rather than a job.

  3. Introductory Call

Selected applicants are invited to a short telephone conversation: who we are, what you are looking for, and your questions about the work, the schedule, and the season answered directly.

  4. In-Person Interview

A proper conversation, in person wherever possible. We will want to hear how you approach preparation, how you handle a mistake, and what you would like to be doing in three years.

  5. Skills Discussion

For hands-on positions, a conversation about technique and, where relevant, a practical evaluation. Any practical evaluation will be explained in advance, including whether it is observational, simulated, or paid work.

  6. References

Where appropriate, and with your agreement, we speak to a reference or two once a position is genuinely in prospect. We will tell you before we contact anyone.

  7. Written Offer

If it is a good fit on both sides, you receive a written offer setting out the position, the pay, and the schedule plainly. We coordinate a start date around what you already have committed to.

  8. Onboarding

Job site orientation, our safety and property-protection procedures, and your first days alongside an experienced member of the crew — learning how we prepare, protect, and finish before you are asked to carry a room on your own.

Working Here

What Team Members Can Expect.

Three things we hold ourselves to, for anyone deciding whether this is the crew they want to join.

  • Clear Expectations

Clear expectations, careful preparation, and pride in the finished result. You will know what the standard is and how the day is sequenced before you start, and preparation is treated as the job rather than as the part before it.

  • Work That Is Noticed

A small-team environment where reliability and craftsmanship are noticed. On a crew this size, careful work is seen and said out loud — to the crew, and to the client standing in the room.

  • Room To Grow

Opportunities to strengthen practical skills and take on more responsibility over time. The range of work here is the reason: painting, preparation, drywall, spray finishing, and eventually running a project of your own.

Training & Advancement

How Skills Are Built Here.

Development here happens on real work, alongside people who already do it well. This is what that covers, from a first day onwards.

Someone in a workshop sighting along the length of a piece of trim, checking it for straightness before it is used.
  • Job Site Orientation

How we set up, protect, and run a site — where things go, how access and keys are handled, and what a client has been told to expect before you arrive.

  • Safety Procedures

Ladders and elevated platforms set up correctly, respiratory protection where a product calls for it, solvents and coatings handled properly, and nobody hurried through the part of a job that could hurt them.

  • Surface Preparation Standards

What good preparation actually looks like on each substrate — filling, sanding, priming, and knowing when a surface is ready rather than merely covered.

  • Products And Equipment

The primers, coatings, and specialty products we use: what each is for, what it will not do, and how it behaves in an Alaska winter. The same for the equipment that applies it.

  • Brush, Roller, And Spray

Technique developed on real work — a cut line by hand, a wall laid off without a lap mark, and sprayed finishes built up properly rather than flooded on.

  • Drywall Repair And Finishing

Patching, taping, and finishing to a consistent level, and the texture matching that decides whether a repair disappears or merely closes.

  • Quality Control

How to check your own work before anyone else does: raking light, a second look at the transitions, and the habit of finding it yourself rather than being shown it.

  • Customer Service Standards

The part of this trade that is not painting — working in an occupied home, explaining a delay before it is noticed, and handling a concern properly the first time it is raised.

  • Leadership Development

For experienced team members, preparation for running a crew: setting a standard, sequencing a day, correcting work without discouraging the person who did it, and holding a schedule together.

Being Built

Not available yet. It is set out here because where a company intends to take its people is worth knowing before you join it — and because we would rather be held to it.

  • The Clark Painting Platform

Online training and skills tracking in one place, so what you have learned and what you are working towards next are recorded rather than remembered — along with schedules, documents, and the paperwork a small company otherwise runs on.

Ready To Join Clark Painting?

We’re always interested in meeting individuals who value professionalism, craftsmanship, and exceptional customer service. If those qualities describe you, we’d love to begin the conversation.

Fields marked with an asterisk are required. Everything else is optional. A résumé is welcome and is not required — we would rather have four honest sentences than none because a document could not be found.

About You So we know who you are and how to reach you.

The number to reach you on during the working day.

Only so we know roughly how far you would be travelling to a job site.

The Position What you are looking for. If you are not sure which position fits, general interest is a perfectly good answer.

Beginning your career is not a disadvantage here. We would simply rather know.

Your Experience Optional, and the part we read most closely. A few sentences about work you are proud of tells us more than a list of employers.

The work you have done, what you are best at, what you would like to learn, and why this trade. If you are new to it, tell us what draws you to it.

A folder, an album, or a profile — anywhere we can see finished work. Photographs of a cut line say more than any description of one.

PDF, Word, or plain text. One document, up to 5MB. Used only to consider your application. If you do not have one to hand, the section above is enough.

Selected applicants are usually contacted within several business days, although timing may vary with active project schedules. You can also call us at (907) 738-7381 if you would rather introduce yourself that way.

Build Something That Lasts

Come And Do Your Best Work.

If you take pride in preparation, want to be better at this trade in five years than you are today, and would rather be known for your work than for your speed, we would like to meet you.

Every conversation begins the same way: tell us about the work you are proud of.
